The East Lancashire Railway The line is over 12 miles long and runs between Heywood and Rawtenstall, with intermediate stations at Bury, (4 miles from Heywood) and Ramsbottom, (8 miles from Heywood). Unstaffed Halts are provided between Bury and Ramsbottom at Summerseat, and between Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall at Irwell Vale.

Bury Transport MuseumThere is a major redevelopment programme underway to ensure that this fascinating transport collection, and the impressive Grade 2 listed goods shed which houses it, The opening date is dependant on when the building works are completed, but it is planned for January 2010.

Burrs Country Park One mile north of Bury, this country park has been created on the site of two historic cotton mills: Burrs Mill and Higher Woodhill Mill. With natural and man-made water courses the park is a great place for watersports. Facilities include a training pool, slalom courses on the river for canoeists, abseiling and climbing, countryside and riverside walks and an orienteering trail.
